Finding Le Nid
Le Nid is located in the small
village of Chateau, 7 km. west of
Cluny, in the department of Saone
and Loire, in Southern Burgundy.
For travellers going from the north
of Europe to the South or vice
versa, it is ideal for midway
stopovers, as it is only a 20
min. drive off the A6, Route du
Soleil, the major artery
connecting the north and south(exit
Macon-Sud).
Le Nid is easily accessible by
car, train or by air. The
airport at Lyon is a l.5 hour drive
dor to door, and the airport at
Geneva a (lovely) 2 hour drive away.
Paris to Le Nid is about 4 hours by
car but visitors can pick up the TGV
(Train Grand Vitesse) to Macon (1.6
hours) from the Gare de Lyon after a
short bus/train/taxi ride from
Charles de Gaulle Airport. Car
rental can be arranged (also by
internet) from the airport or at the
train station itself on reservation
of a seat on the TGV to Macon-Loche.
The TGV to Paris and to the south
(Aix en Provence etc.) make these
cities feasible day trips for those
wishing to take in other areas of
France. Please contact us if you need
assistance with any specific plans
you may have.
Directions to Le Nid
From the north, (Luxembourg,
etc.) take the A31 south, the A6 from Paris or the E17 from
Reims direction Dijon. After Dijon,
follow the A6 direction Lyon for
about an hour until you reach exit
no. 29 Macon Sud (Macon-South).
When you leave the highway, you'll
have to pay toll (bring Euros) and
by the roundabout directly after the
toll, follow the signs for
Cluny on the N 79 (this is the first
right turn off the roundabout).
After about 20 minutes, at the
bottom of a steep hill you take the
exit Cluny (this is also direction
Montceau les Mines D980). Once
off the highway, go right and you'll
reach a roundabout almost directly. There you follow the sign to Chateau (turning
left or at 9 o'clock on the D22). Take the first right turn after less
than a kilometer which is indicated
by another sign Chateau. From there it is another 10 minutes
through a wood on a winding road to
our village. Follow the signs to Chateau; if you do not see one, go straight on.
Once in Chateau you will see a war monument, go left
there, following the sign Les Noyers.
Two hundred meters further up the
hill, you'll reach a fork in the
road. Le Nid is right in front
of you, in the fork with a big green
iron gate. Guests of the main house
follow the fork to the right to the
car park at the back of the house
and B&B guests or guests in the
Stables take the left fork to park
in the small car park just past the
house.
Welcome to Le Nid.
